The Horsens-based company ECOmove has been sold to Jiangte Motor - a Chinese high-tech company engaged in the R&D, production and sales of electric motors and automobiles. With the purchase of ECOmove, Jiangte Motor aims to accelerate its development within the new energy vehicle sector.
ECOmove, a flexible concept for electric cars developed in Horsens, has attracted great interest from the stock listed company Jiangte Motor based in China. Most recently, the interest from China resulted in Jiangte Motor purchasing the assets of ECOmove with the aim to accelerate its development in the new energy vehicle sector.
Bringing ECOmove closer to the market
With a strong focus on lightweight and modular vehicle chassis components, ECOmove has over the years developed and demonstrated its innovative technologies through a number of prototypes of the QBeak vehicle. Recently, the development has been accelerated with the addition of safety components in order to reach best-in-class safety ratings. The ambition has been to identity a strategic partner, with experience in manufacturing and supply chain management, in order to reach mass production of its electrical vehicle prototypes.
Now, the long-term hard work has paid off with the sale of ECOmove’s technology to Jiangte Motor, via its German subsidiary Weier Antriebe und Energietechnik GmbH. Mikkel Steen Pedersen, the founder of ECOmove, will join Jiangte Motor in China to support the integration of the technology into Jiangte Motor’s development activities.
“I’m very pleased to see ECOmove’s electrical vehicle prototype getting one step closer to the market through the sale to Jiangte Motor and I look very much forward to join Jiangte Motor in China and support its development within the new energy vehicle sector”, says Mikkel Steen Pedersen, founder of ECOmove.
Insero, the lead investor in ECOmove, made its first investment in the company in 2009. The Insero group represents extensive knowledge, experience, network and competences within the field of e-mobility.
“I’m very pleased to see that one of our early investments will play a vital part in the development of the new energy vehicle sector in China”, says Mogens Vig Pedersen, CEO Insero.
